How We Help
The Inform to Transform Cognitive Assessment
What is a Cognitive Assessment?
Did you know that most learning struggles are caused by cognitive weaknesses, not laziness or lack of instruction? This means that your child's processing skills, long and short term memory, focus, or reasoning ability might be hindering his/her progress.
Our comprehensive Cognitive Assessment was created to test your child's brain skills. This is something they've likely never been tested for. The results of which can make a significant difference in your child's life.
The Cognitive Assessment takes about two hours to complete and shows us exactly which cognitive skills are strong and which skills need improvement. Our assessment report gives measurements of percentile rank, age equivalence, and standard score. Percentile rank indicates where your child ranks in comparison to 100 of their same age peers nationally. Age equivalence indicates how your child's scores compare with the average scores of other age groups. Standard score indicate how far above or below average your child's score falls, using a common scale (ex: “average” of 100). IQ score is normally presented as a standard score with “100” being average. With all of this information, we see a clear picture of how your child is performing in relation to his or her peers, and we can make informed decisions about how to help your child succeed.

WHAT CAUSES LEARNING STRUGGLES?
Though there can be several reasons for learning struggles, the root of the problem is more often than not a weakness in Cognitive Skills. Trouble with auditory processing, long/short term memory, attention, and visual processing skills can result in overall learning struggles that are hard to diagnose.
At LearningRx San Antonio Northeast, we help families understand exactly where the issues lie through a comprehensive Cognitive Skills Assessment. Then, we provide a step by step Action Plan that helps you support your child's growth.
CAN I TAKE THE ASSESSMENT ONLINE?
No, the Cognitive Skills Assessment must be administered in person at our offices location at 1270 N. Loop 1604 E. #1302, San Antonio, Texas 78232.
Your child will be assessed in a one-on-one, interactive setting using a Gold-standard Assessment measure.
HOW LONG DOES THE ASSESSMENT TAKE?
Your child's Cognitive Assessment will take about 2 hours. The analysis and strategy session that follows on the second meeting takes one and a half hours.
WILL MY CHILD OUTGROW HIS/HER LEARNING STRUGGLES?
Sometimes, not always. Many struggles for children and adults are long-lasting. If weak cognitive skills are the reason, they may not age out of it. This is a good example of why adults struggle as well. The best way to understand learning struggles is to observe if they are impacting quality of life, confidence, or learning enjoyment.
The good news is that Cognitive Skills can be improved. In fact, we show evidence of this every day with our awesome brain training students. With practice, your weaknesses can turn into strengths and strengths can get even stronger! Give us a call at (210) 610-6340 to learn more about our brain training programs.
